April 27, 2018

My experience from the first time I walked through the door has been extremely positive and my teeth have not looked or been this good for many years. My recent treatment (a crown) was carried out with the utmost care and skill and looks great.

SEVEN WAYS TO WHITEN YOUR TEETH BEFORE AN EVENT OR EXHIBITION

In this article, we investigate seven ways to lighten your smile.

We all like to look great when we are attending an exhibition and when representing ourselves or our companies. Riverside Dental have put together seven simple ways you could whiten teeth at home.

Most people like to visit their dentist for teeth whitening procedures, and of course, we would recommend this, however, there are a few at-home quick-fix alternatives you could try to brighten your smile for that important exhibition or event – Especially if time is of the essence because suddenly your off-white teeth have become an issue as you are scrutinising yourself ahead of that event or special day – Oh no, you might be thinking and wish what you saw when you smiled was just a touch brighter?

According to Norwich based Production Bureau specialising in exhibitions and live events, first impressions count, which is why they offer their own staff Denplan, with the benefits of teeth whitening too – That way the live events and exhibitions teams are always at their very best.

Please to Keep in mind these tips are only a quick fix, and always consult your dentist before taking drastic measures, primarily because at Riverside Dental we offer a host of whitening procedures. We can see you promptly, and even provide payment plans to help you with managing the costs for teeth whitening.

1. Try some whitening strips

Whitening strips for your teeth are available from most good pharmacies and beauty shops. These strips are not expensive to purchase, and you can apply them to your freshly cleaned teeth in seconds. – They are a good quick fix, but are best used over time and of course, have limitations.

2. As a female, a quick swipe of some red lipstick can help

The use of a strong coloured lipstick can help by increasing contrast making your teeth appear whiter. So with that in mind, consider using your brightest red lipstick for the best results, in fact, consider using the one with blue undertones as it will help even more!

Why does this work? Because it draws the unknowing eye away from any imperfections in your teeth.

3. Use hydrogen peroxide

Peroxide is used in the production of the aforementioned ‘whitening strips’. As we all know, it is also possible to purchase it in a more concentrated bottle form.

We do not recommend this if you are under 18 and should only be conducted by confident and competent individuals – So why not let us help you ENQUIRE. If you’re going to use this solution, make sure you don’t swallow any of the liquid. You could apply it to your teeth using qtips (cotton buds) for the best outcome – Remember this is an aggressive formula, be careful of yourself and your clothes. Preexisting dental conditions may also be affected, so consult your dentist or hygienist for guidance on what product(s) to use and what strength is best suited for you.

4. Activated charcoal

Charcoal is a great solution, and it has been covered extensively in the media in recent months. Riverside Dental also covered this in a blog article on charcoal toothpaste – Worth a read. The charcoal acts as a mild abrasive and removes staining, overuse can damage your enamel.

5. Orange Peels

Only a quick fix, but you can rub orange peel on your teeth to eat away the surface enamel to remove surface discolouration. This is not recommended for long-term use, and again you should consult your dentist if you have any concerns about whether this is a good idea.

6. Strawberry’s and baking soda

Yes, you read correctly, strawberries and baking soda! – The high level of acid works with the baking soda (which is used in some toothpaste to lift staining) the result is a brighter, whiter smile. Baking soda is an ideal substance to brighten year pearly whites quickly, and it is safer than peroxide.

7. Cheese… No stop smiling, we mean cheese.

Yes believe it, or not cheese can help lower the PH in your mouth, this stops stains from adhering to strong foodstuffs and drinks like tea, red wine and coffee. This is why cheese is often recommended after a good meal and a compliment for red wines.

We hope this article has been insightful and should you like to know more, please ask your dentist or hygienist before you try this at home – We create these articles as an interesting way to keep you informed of methods, popular myths and other current or trending information in the dental world. – Until next time, we hope to see you soon.
