Riverside Dental: latest patient update – Fri 29th May 2020
We are almost back to work…but its not quite business as usual!
Further to the shock news from the Prime Minister that dental practices can reopen from the 8th June, we would like to provide you with an update on our plans.
While welcome news, it only gives practices around 10 days to put the strict measures in place to ensure we are “covid secure”. Due to the hard work of our clinical and admin teams, we are planning on opening the week of the 8th June but at this stage we cannot say on which day.
We will be reopening in phases and will start by seeing patients in order of clinical need before extending to other patient groups as we look to move towards full operational capacity in the near future.
As I am sure you are aware, there is a global shortage of PPE with almost all of it up until now diverted to the NHS and rightly so. This is a challenge that we will be working on over the next 10 days. As always, the team at Riverside Dental will be going above and beyond the basic standard, we will need to adhere to, in order to ensure all our patients and staff have absolutely no concerns.
We continue to appreciate your patience during this difficult time and can reassure you that a member of the team will contact you shortly to either rearrange or plan your next appointments. Our diaries will need to be carefully managed, and appointment times extended, to ensure we are fully compliant with the ever-changing guidance issued by Public Health England (PHE) and the Chief Dental Officer (CDO).
Due to only starting with a skeleton team, we ask that you do not ring or attend the practice but email us if you have any concerns:
info@riversidedental.co.uk
Further information will be provided nearer to re-opening in regards to our new protocols and procedures that we will have in place to ensure your full safety. We will also be updating this page regularly.
We thank you again for all your support and we look forwards to seeing you all very soon!
Regards
The Riverside Dental Team
Riverside Dental: latest patient update – 21/05/20
Following the Prime Minister’s announcement about easing the lockdown measures, we thought we would let you know how this may affect your dental care going forwards.
We are awaiting more detailed advice from the Government about what any proposed changes will look like and how they may impact our practice. Although we are currently closed, we are cautiously hopeful that we will be able to re-open in late June – early July and we will keep you posted as soon as we hear, of course. Please note, it is highly likely that our services will be restricted during the initial phase of our reopening, due to regulatory guidance.
Please keep checking our website for all the very latest news. We will be publishing useful information about our re-opening process here as soon as we receive the national guidance.
Your safety
The safety of you and our team is our top priority. We have created a short video to reassure you that we are doing everything we can to keep you and our team safe.

Do you have a dental emergency?
We are sorry to hear you have a dental emergency at this time. NHS England and the Department of Health has instructed dental practices to prioritise urgent treatment where possible. This guidance is to reduce the risk of virus transmission to you and to our staff.
Firstly, our team needs to determine the cause and severity of your dental emergency.
Go straight to A&E if you have:
- Facial swelling affecting your vision, breathing or preventing your mouth opening more than 2 fingers’ width
- Trauma causing loss of consciousness, double vision or vomiting
Do you have any of the following?
- Broken tooth/filling causing pain
- Toothache that is preventing sleep or eating combined with swelling or fever that
- is not manageable with pain killers
- Facial swelling around your gums, cheek or lip area
- Bleeding due to trauma
If so, please call us on 01603 920313 (option 1) and we will advise you. We will then decide whether you require a telephone consultation with a clinician. For all non-emergency situations, please email us, these include:
- Loose or lost crowns, bridges or veneers – with no pain
- Fractured, rubbing or loose dentures
- Broken, loose or lost fillings/ teeth
- Bleeding gums
Please note we are unfortunately unable to accept any of the above as urgent treatment however we can give advice, so please don’t suffer in silence. You can also find a Homecare Guide on our website with lots of advice and tips. We are here to help, however we can.
Due to increased demand, we are now offering FREE virtual consultations for new or existing patients. Please follow the link below for further details.
